Vinaypal Kaur has been elected as the new Mayor of Moga, marking a significant milestone in her political journey. The Punjab government had reserved the Mayor's post for the Backward Class (BC) category this time.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh arrived in Moga to participate in the mayoral election process, which was conducted in the presence of Moga MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora and district administration officials.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured a strong mandate in the municipal elections by winning 30 out of Moga’s 50 wards, paving the way for the party to form the municipal leadership.

Vinaypal Kaur entered politics for the first time and contested the civic elections from Ward No. 8 on an AAP ticket. She earned the trust of voters and was elected as a councillor before being chosen as Mayor.

The 44-year-old Mayor holds a B.Sc. Medical degree and a PGDCA from Shimla University. She is a mother of two, and her family has no previous political background. In the municipal election, she defeated her nearest rival by a margin of 228 votes.
