A shocking case of alleged rape and blackmail involving a student of a private university has come to light in Mohali. Police have arrested the accused following a complaint filed by the student.
According to the victim, the accused introduced himself as the owner of a company and promised to help her secure a job. He remained in regular contact with her and gradually gained her trust.
The student alleged that the accused later promised to marry her and took her to a hotel, where he established physical relations with her. During this period, he allegedly recorded objectionable photos and videos without her consent.
A few months later, the accused allegedly began pressuring her to maintain a physical relationship again, threatening to misuse the photos and videos. When she refused, he reportedly sent the explicit material to her parents.
Victim further alleged that when she went to ask him to delete the photos and videos, he assaulted her, tried to strangulate her, and forcibly raped her again.
Police said the accused also threatened to jump from the ninth floor of the hostel building if the student refused to meet him. To further intimidate her, he allegedly sent obscene videos to her brother.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at the local police station, and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway.
