A CCTV camera found mounted on an overhead equipment (OHE) pole along the Amritsar–Manawala railway track has triggered a major security alert, prompting a joint investigation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), Civil Police, and ARP teams.

According to officials, the camera was spotted during a routine patrol by GRP personnel on the Amritsar–Jalandhar railway section on Monday evening. The device was found attached to an OHE pole near Kilometer No. 508/23 between Amritsar and Manawala.

Following the discovery, teams from the GRP, RPF, Civil Police, and ARP rushed to the spot. The RPF seized the CCTV camera for forensic examination, while investigators began probing who installed the device and for what purpose.

The location falls under the jurisdiction of the GRP. Authorities have not yet registered an FIR, but the matter is being treated seriously, and the investigation is ongoing. Officials are examining whether the camera was installed for unauthorized surveillance or any other suspicious activity.
