Police have taken major action in the case involving the suspicious death of Neha Bassi, a lecturer at Saint Soldier College in Jalandhar. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bodh Raj, the investigating officer in the case, has been suspended over alleged negligence, while the station house officer (SHO) concerned has been transferred.

Meanwhile, police have arrested Neha’s husband, Umang Bassi, and mother-in-law, Kusum Bassi, from Ujjain. Both are being brought to Jalandhar for further investigation. Police had earlier arrested Satpal Kaur in connection with the case and have also recovered a six-year-old girl.

According to the police investigation, allegations have surfaced that Neha was made to consume toilet cleaner, including Harpic, before her death. Police are expected to hold a press conference soon and disclose further details of the case. However, the allegations and sequence of events will be conclusively established only after the completion of the official investigation and court proceedings.

Satpal Kaur’s Husband Makes Serious Allegations

Vishal Sharma, husband of arrested accused Satpal Kaur, has also come forward with a series of allegations. Vishal, who works as a cybersecurity consultant in Hyderabad, said that he and Satpal had a love marriage around 11 years ago and have a nine-year-old daughter.

Vishal claimed that he had purchased a house in Jalandhar worth around ₹1 crore in his wife’s name. According to him, he came to know around six months ago that Satpal had allegedly been in a relationship with Umang Bassi for nearly three years. He said Umang was also his school friend.

Vishal alleged that on February 3, when he suddenly returned home, he found Satpal chatting with someone. He claimed that an argument broke out when he tried to check her mobile phone, following which Satpal allegedly attacked him and left the house.

He further alleged that Umang Bassi attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon outside his daughter’s school, Mayor World School. Vishal claimed that despite submitting a complaint, appropriate action was not taken at the time due to political pressure.

Alleged WhatsApp Chats Under Scanner

Vishal claimed that after examining his wife’s mobile phone, he found around 206 pages of WhatsApp conversations spanning approximately 15 days. According to his allegation, the chats contained discussions between Umang Bassi and Satpal Kaur about separating from or allegedly eliminating their respective spouses, Neha and Vishal.

He also claimed that some objectionable material was recovered from his wife’s room. Vishal said that because he was living in Hyderabad for work, he was able to avoid what he described as an alleged conspiracy against him.

Vishal alleged that the purported extramarital relationship had devastated two families and said he was now seeking justice through legal channels.

Investigation Continues

Vishal has further alleged that Umang Bassi and his mother Kusum Bassi were involved in giving toilet cleaner to Neha, resulting in her death. Police have currently arrested Umang Bassi, Kusum Bassi and Satpal Kaur in connection with the case.

With the investigating officer suspended and the concerned SHO transferred, scrutiny of the investigation has intensified. The alleged WhatsApp chats, the suspected conspiracy and the circumstances surrounding Neha Bassi’s death are expected to become clearer after the police formally present their findings.
