Newly appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president and Jalandhar Cantt MLA Pargat Singh has begun working on his strategy after taking charge of the state Congress unit.

Before beginning his engagements on Saturday, Pargat Singh visited Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi and offered prayers.

He is expected to hold meetings with senior Congress leaders in Delhi on Saturday. Although his schedule has not yet been finalised, he is likely to meet Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra later in the afternoon.

His schedule for returning to Punjab is also yet to be finalised. Rahul Gandhi has convened a meeting in Delhi on October 5. If Pargat Singh attends the meeting, he is likely to return to Punjab on October 6. If he does not attend, he may return to Punjab on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, supporters and party workers from Jalandhar have started arriving in Delhi to congratulate the newly appointed Punjab Congress chief. Jalandhar Youth Congress district president Angad Dutta has also reached Delhi along with his supporters.
