A Nihang Singh was allegedly shot dead late Friday night following the Rakhar Punya fair in Baba Bakala, Amritsar. The incident has sent shockwaves through the area, with police launching an investigation into the murder.
According to police, the victim's body was recovered from a deserted area behind the Baba Bakala Civil Hospital. The deceased has been identified as Raja Singh, son of Sarbjit Singh, a resident of Miglani village.
Preliminary examination revealed multiple bullet injury marks on Raja Singh's chest, indicating that he was shot at close range. Police suspect that the killing may have been the result of an old rivalry or dispute that escalated after the fair concluded.
The body has been taken into police custody and sent for further examination. Authorities are currently recording statements of the victim's family members to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
No arrests have been made so far, and the accused remain unidentified. Police teams are investigating various angles, including personal enmity, and efforts are underway to trace those involved in the shooting.
