Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal has expressed disappointment over his experience with Air Canada, alleging that he was denied the business class seat he had paid for and was instead assigned a seat in economy class.
Sharing his experience on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Grewal claimed that despite purchasing a business class ticket, he was informed at boarding that he would be seated in economy. According to the singer, airline staff failed to provide a satisfactory explanation when he questioned the change.
Grewal said he was effectively told that the situation could not be changed and that his options were to either take the flight or leave it. He further alleged that when he continued to seek clarification, airline representatives discussed removing him from the aircraft instead of addressing his concerns. These claims are based on statements made by Grewal in his social media post.
The singer emphasized that he was not asking for any special treatment or additional benefits. He said his only request was to receive the business class seat he had paid for and to be informed about the reason behind the downgrade.
Grewal also expressed disappointment over what he described as the airline’s handling of the situation, claiming that he did not even receive a basic apology during the incident. He termed the experience one of the worst he has had while travelling.
Following the post, Air Canada responded publicly on X, apologizing for the inconvenience. The airline requested that Grewal send his booking reference number and the full name listed on the ticket via direct message so that the matter could be investigated further.
