A jatha of Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan, who arrived in India to celebrate the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, paid obeisance at Golden Temple in Amritsar on Tuesday with devotion and enthusiasm.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) warmly welcomed the visiting pilgrims and honoured them with siropas, traditional robes of honour.
Jatha leader Bhupinder Singh expressed happiness over the opportunity to celebrate Sri Guru Ramdas Ji’s Prakash Purab in Amritsar, describing it as a matter of great fortune. He said that, besides visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib, the group had also paid obeisance at other prominent Sikh shrines, including Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi and Sri Anandpur Sahib.
The pilgrims were welcomed by SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, Sri Harmandir Sahib manager Satnam Singh Mangia, Dharam Parchar Committee secretary Bhagwant Singh Dhangera and manager Rajinder Singh Ruby, along with other officials.
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and local religious organisations also extended special support during the visit.
