The post-mortem examination of Mansa-based anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota has yet to be conducted at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, as doctors are facing difficulties in normalising the body's temperature.

According to the information, the body had remained in a freezer for 24 days, affecting the process required for the post-mortem examination. A team of doctors will make another attempt to conduct the procedure in the evening on Friday.

If the examination cannot be carried out at that time, it may be postponed until Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, Jhota's father, Bhim Singh, launched an indefinite hunger strike shortly after his son's body was sent to Chandigarh. He is demanding the immediate transfer of Mansa SSP Vaibhav Chaudhary before the last rites and has vowed not to consume any food until his demand is met.

Bhim Singh alleged that the SSP was directly responsible for his son's death, claiming that timely and strict police action against drug trafficking could have saved his life.

He has urged the Punjab government to honour the alleged understanding reached during a meeting with Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian and Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and transfer the SSP before his son's last rites.
