Pathankot district’s talented daughter, Anshika Bhardwaj from Bada Bhanwal village, has brought glory to India by securing a silver medal at the 24th Asian Karate Championship held in Amman, Jordan, from September 8 to 11.
Competing in the Under-21 Women’s 68 kg category, Anshika displayed exceptional skill, determination, and mental strength throughout the tournament. She defeated strong opponents from Iran, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia to earn a place in the final. In a closely contested title clash, she lost to a Saudi Arabian competitor and settled for the silver medal, marking the biggest achievement of her international karate career so far.
Anshika comes from a disciplined family background. Her father serves in the Indian Army, while her mother is a teacher. Inspired by the values of discipline and dedication from an early age, she pursued karate alongside her studies. She completed her Class 10 education at BSMSD Rajput Public School, Sujanpur, and her Class 12 from Maharana Pratap Senior Secondary School, Bhanwal.
On September 22, 2025, Anshika joined the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and is currently posted with the 6th Battalion in Goa.
Before her international success, Anshika had also made her mark at the national level by winning a bronze medal in the -61 kg category at the 5th KIO Senior National Karate Championship held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi, competing against some of the country’s top athletes.
Her remarkable achievement in Jordan has brought pride not only to Pathankot and Punjab but also to the entire nation.
