In a major anti-drug operation in Amritsar, the Punjab Police and Border Security Force (BSF) recovered 578 grams of suspected ice drug and 2.591 kilograms of heroin in three separate cases under the Gharinda police station area. Two accused were arrested, while a case was also registered against an unidentified person.
In the first case, BSF personnel recovered a suspicious packet from the jurisdiction of BOP Pulmoran. The packet, weighing 578 grams including packaging material, contained suspected ice drug. As the owner of the consignment could not be identified, police registered a case against an unknown person under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In the second operation, police arrested Sukhdayal Singh of Attari and Hardev Singh of Neshta after recovering 591 grams of heroin from their possession in the area of BOP Mahawa. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, ₹1,120 in cash and a motorcycle from the accused. A case has been registered against them under Section 21-C of the NDPS Act.
In the third case, police arrested Manpreet Singh alias Manna, a resident of Mode village, following specific intelligence inputs. Acting on information that he was involved in heroin trafficking and was on his way to supply narcotics, police set up a checkpoint and intercepted him.
During the search, officials recovered 2 kilograms of heroin from his possession. Police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 21-C and 25 of the NDPS Act and launched further investigations to trace the drug network and its links.
