Counter Intelligence wing of the Amritsar Police has busted an illegal arms and explosives smuggling module, arresting three accused and recovering six hand grenades and 12 illegal pistols from their possession.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the arrested suspects were operating under the directions of a foreign-based smuggler allegedly supported by Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI, along with overseas operatives of the banned terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

According to investigators, the consignment of weapons and explosives was intended to fuel unrest and disrupt public peace in Punjab. Police believe the recovered arms were part of a larger conspiracy aimed at destabilizing law and order in the state.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar under relevant provisions of the Arms Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities said further investigation is underway to identify additional suspects and uncover the wider network behind the smuggling operation.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar is expected to share detailed information about the case shortly.
