Kangra Police conducted an early-morning raid at a hotel in Upper Dharamkot, McLeodganj, on Monday and seized suspected narcotic substances, including heroin, opium, charas and cannabis, during an operation targeting an alleged rave party.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by DIG Northern Range Soumya Sambashivan carried out the raid at around 3 a.m. at the EDM (Electronic Music Dance) Hostel in Upper Dharamkot. A search of the premises led to the recovery of a black purse from a dustbin within the hotel compound.

According to ASP Kangra Sanjeev Chauhan, the purse contained 0.95 grams of heroin (chitta), 3.70 grams of opium, 1.33 grams of charas and 1.54 grams of cannabis and cannabis flowers. The seized substances have been taken into police custody for further investigation.

Police have registered an FIR under the NDPS Act against two hotel operators, identified as Aamir Khan, a resident of Raisen in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and Radhesh Ranjan Pajoria, a resident of Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had taken the hotel on lease from a local resident. Police suspect that narcotics may have been supplied to tourists under the guise of a music and dance event. Entry to the party was reportedly being charged at ₹1,000 per person.

Authorities are now investigating the source of the drugs and the wider network involved in their supply and distribution.
