A 27-year-old pregnant woman allegedly died by suicide after hanging herself in Punjab’s Mohali district. The incident took place in Pandwala village of Dera Bassi. The deceased has been identified as Kajal Devi, a resident of Bhakharpura village.
According to family members, Kajal was around one-and-a-half months pregnant. She had reportedly undergone a medical check-up a day before the incident, where her pregnancy was confirmed.
The family alleged that Kajal had been facing marital stress and disputes with her in-laws since her marriage. They have raised serious allegations against the in-laws and demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the matter.
Her husband reportedly works in the tent business. After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and took custody of the body. The body has been kept in the mortuary of Dera Bassi Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police officials said the investigation is underway from all angles and further action will be taken based on the findings.
