President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday left Manali for the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang amid chilly weather and changing conditions in the Himalayan region. She was seen wearing a warm long woollen coat as snow-covered mountains added to the scenic beauty of the route.

After reaching the Atal Tunnel, President Murmu interacted with officials of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). The officials briefed her about the tunnel, its significance and the arrangements in the area. She also took a look at the surroundings and witnessed the snowfall and picturesque Himalayan landscape.

In view of the President's visit, security arrangements were strengthened along the Manali-Atal Tunnel route. Traffic was regulated during the movement of her convoy, with tourists and other motorists heading towards the tunnel facing temporary restrictions.

Following her visit to the Atal Tunnel, President Murmu was also scheduled to visit the Hidimba Temple in Manali. Special arrangements were made in the town to manage security and traffic during her visit.

The President's Himachal Pradesh visit comes as weather conditions have changed across the state's higher reaches, with several mountainous areas experiencing rain and snowfall.
