A school principal was brutally murdered after his throat was slit in Ludhiana’s Jandiali village late on Monday night, police said. The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Iqbal Singh, who reportedly ran a school from his residence.
According to his son, Yuvi, two unidentified men allegedly broke into their house, held him and his father hostage, and assaulted them. He claimed the attackers partially undressed and beat them before striking his father with a sharp-edged weapon, leading to his death.
Police said a deep cut mark was found on the deceased’s neck during the initial inspection. Teams from Jamalpur police station and CIA staff reached the spot soon after receiving information.
Yuvi further stated that his father was also a lawyer by profession and operated an educational institute named “Dhaliwal School,” where classes up to Grade 8 were conducted from their home.
Following the incident, Yuvi raised an alarm, after which nearby residents gathered and informed the police. Officials confirmed that the investigation is still in its early stages and all possible angles are being examined.
The deceased’s wife is currently in Bhopal for an examination and will return soon, after which the post-mortem will be conducted. Police have assured a thorough investigation into the case.
