A private bus carrying tourists returning from Manali and students of Lovely Professional University (LPU) to Amritsar fell from a flyover near village Majari in Banga, Nawanshahr, early Monday morning. Two students and the bus conductor were killed in the accident, while one student has reportedly gone missing.

The accident took place at around 5 am when the bus was reportedly coming down the flyover. According to eyewitnesses, the driver apparently dozed off while driving, causing him to lose control of the speeding vehicle. The bus broke through the flyover railing and plunged onto the road below.

The impact was so severe that the bus was badly damaged. Following the accident, panic spread at the spot as local residents rushed to help the passengers and informed the police.

Banga police and rescue teams reached the site soon after receiving information and began rescue operations. Passengers trapped inside the damaged bus were pulled out, while the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The accident has so far claimed the lives of two students and the bus conductor. A student has also been reported missing, and search efforts are underway to trace the person.

However, the identities of the deceased and injured passengers have not yet been officially confirmed. Police and the administration have also not released an official figure for the total number of casualties and injured persons.

Police officials inspected the accident site and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash. Authorities are also collecting details of all passengers travelling on the bus.

The preliminary account from eyewitnesses points towards the driver possibly falling asleep and losing control of the vehicle, but the exact cause of the accident will be established after the police investigation.
