Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday conferred state awards on 29 eminent personalities for their outstanding contributions in various fields on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day. He also honoured police personnel with the prestigious Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak and Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Duty at a state-level function.

Congratulating the awardees, Mann said the state awards recognise individuals who have rendered dedicated services and made significant contributions to society and the public interest. The recipients included social workers, artistes, writers, poets, environmentalists, experts, government officials and professionals from various fields.

Jagdev Singh of Bathinda was honoured for bravery. Several individuals were recognised for social service, including Inderjit Singh, Surinder Jagat, Sunita Kapoor, Sukhdeep Singh Dhillon, Avtar Singh Mann, Upinder Singh Ghai, Jasvir Singh, Jatinder Singh, Vinod Kumar, Avtar Singh and Pardeep Kumar.

Satveer Kaur of Patiala received the award for art, while several personalities were honoured for their contribution to literature, including Mehar Malik, Beant Singh Bajwa, Sanjeev Saini, Baaj Singh, Dr Mohammed Ayub Khan, Premlata and Paramjit Kaur.

Dr Parminder Singh of Amritsar was recognised for health services, while Talwinder Singh of Kapurthala and Sukhraj Bhullar of Ludhiana were honoured for contributions to science and technology. Kamaljit Singh, Kanta and Ashok Kumar were recognised for outstanding duty.

Chief Minister also presented the Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak to Head Constable Lovepreet Singh, Constable Baby Kumar, Lady Constable Charanjit, Lady Constable Mamta Rani and Senior Constable Angrej Singh.

In addition, the Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Duty was conferred on 20 police personnel, including Pawanpreet PPS, Surinder Singh PPS, Ashwani Kumar PPS, Inspector Rajesh Kumar, Inspector Gurmeet Singh, Inspector Davinder Singh, Inspector Satpal, Sub Inspector Inderjit Kaur, Sub Inspector Sandeep Kumar, Sub Inspector Karamjit Singh, Sub Inspector Baldev Singh, Sub Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, ASI Yadwinder Singh, ASI Narinder Sidhu, ASI Navtej Singh Brar, ASI Jatinder Singh, Senior Constable Amanpreet Singh, Senior Constable Ramanpreet Singh, Inspector Harjot Kaur and Senior Constable Amardeep Singh.

Mann said the awards were a recognition of the commitment and exemplary work of individuals who have contributed to the welfare and progress of Punjab through their respective fields.
