Punjab Assembly elections approaching the Congress has intensified its preparations, holding a series of high-level meetings in the national capital to finalize its election strategy.
After a key meeting on Wednesday (22July) where party leaders pledged to fight the polls unitedly, another meeting is likely to be held with the Charanjit Singh Channi camp under the chairmanship of Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal, according to sources.
The previous meeting was described as positive, with former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, who had been at odds in recent weeks, attending together. Senior leaders agreed to set aside differences and work collectively under a common election strategy.
The strategy session, chaired by Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel and K.C. Venugopal, focused on strengthening the party's campaign ahead of the elections. The Congress high command urged all leaders to work together under the slogan "Team Punjab" and accelerate grassroots preparations.
Speaking after the meeting, Bhupesh Baghel announced that Rahul Gandhi would formally launch the Congress campaign in Punjab. The party will seek suitable dates from Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for the campaign launch.
Baghel said the Congress is considering kicking off its election drive through either a statewide bus yatra or a series of public rallies and meetings across Punjab. The campaign is expected to begin later this month.
