Terming Punjab as the best destination for pharmaceutical manufacturing, Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education and Research Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Saturday invited investors and industrialists to set up their ventures in the state, assuring them of full support from the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government.

Addressing a session titled “Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology” with the theme ‘Positioning Punjab for the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing’ on the second day of the Progressive Punjab Investors' Summit 2026, the Minister engaged directly with industry leaders, asking them what they require to invest. He highlighted that Punjab possesses all the necessary ingredients for a thriving pharma hub, including robust infrastructure, top-tier medical and pharmaceutical institutes, and the prestigious National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) for high-quality education and R&D.

Emphasizing the critical need for innovation, Dr Balbir Singh stressed on the importance of research and development to stay competitive in the global market. He pointed out that the state government is committed to facilitating the industry by providing easy approvals and a business-friendly environment.

"The Punjab Government, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is offering unparalleled support to the pharma industry. We have the talent from NIPER, we have the infrastructure, and now we have the political will to make this the easiest place to do business," said Dr Balbir Singh.

He urged the investors to consider Punjab as their preferred destination, highlighting the state's strategic advantages and the proactive approach of the government in handholding new industries. The Minister also gave a snapshot of the new industrial policy being brought in by the Punjab Government, designed to offer attractive incentives and a streamlined regulatory framework to boost industrial growth in the pharmaceutical sector.

The session featured prominent panelists including Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Kumar Rahul, CMD Ind-Swift Group NR Munjal, CMD Tynor PJ Singh, Director NIPER Dulal Panda, Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations in Sunpharma AH Khan, while, Ramesh Shanmugam from KPMG was moderating the session.
