Punjab Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Thursday said the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government remains committed to the welfare of employees and is implementing its decision to regularise contractual employees and convert outsourced workers into contractual staff in a transparent and impartial manner.
The minister made these remarks while meeting representatives of three unions of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), including the Coordination (Tal-mel) Committee, Powercom Transco Outsourced Union, and the Outsourced Employees Federation.
During the meeting, Sond assured the employee representatives that the government is actively processing the regularisation of contractual employees, the conversion of outsourced workers to contractual status, and the speedy resolution of all their legitimate demands.
He said that more than 8,000 employees working in PSPCL and PSTCL are expected to benefit from the Punjab Government's decision.
To ensure timely implementation, the Power Minister directed administrative officers to expedite all necessary procedures and resolve employees' legitimate demands on a fast-track basis.
Meanwhile, PSPCL CMD Dr. Basant Garg assured the union representatives that all genuine demands would be addressed systematically and that the provisions of the ordinance would be implemented strictly by the power department in the interest of employees.
Among those present at the meeting were SSP Khanna Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia, Director (Generation) Er. Punnerdeep Singh Brar, senior departmental officers, and representatives of the employee unions.
