Punjab Government has taken a major decision in favor of contract multipurpose health workers in the state. Punjab Finance Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for resolving employee issues, Harpal Singh Cheema, has directed the Department of Health and Family Welfare to ensure the provision of a special incentive allowance of ₹525 per vaccination session to contract multipurpose health workers.
Under this decision, the incentive allowance will be provided for a maximum of four vaccination sessions per month. Finance Minister Cheema clarified that this special incentive will directly increase the monthly income of these employees by up to ₹2,100. Additionally, he instructed the Health Department to expedite sending the union’s demand regarding the regularization of their services to the concerned committee for review.
During the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting, representatives of the Contract Multipurpose Health Worker Union expressed their gratitude to the Finance Minister for introducing the special incentive allowance alongside a new uniform allowance and tour allowance.
As part of a series of meetings held at Punjab Bhawan, the Finance Minister also held detailed discussions with various employee unions representing the Power, Forest, and Food & Civil Supplies departments. Delegations from Powercom, Transco, the Outsourced Employees Federation, the Meter Reader Union, and Thermal Contract Workers Unions submitted memorandums demanding the regularization of all employee categories, timely salary increments, fair compensation in case of workplace accidents, and social security provisions.
Finance Minister Cheema also instructed the relevant departments to take prompt action on issues raised by the Forest Workers Union and the Palledar Union. He affirmed that the Mann government remains committed to sympathetically resolving all legitimate demands of employees.
