Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak has given in-principle approval for procuring laptops for Inspector cadre officers to improve efficiency, transparency and precision in departmental work.
Interacting with the Inspector Union, Kataruchak said the move would strengthen the department’s field-level functioning, as inspectors regularly deal with farmers, arhtiyas and other stakeholders during procurement operations.
The Minister also approved conveyance allowance for inspectors to facilitate their visits to mandis and monitor ground-level arrangements, particularly during procurement seasons. He further approved an infrastructure allowance to help inspectors maintain better office facilities and furniture.
Kataruchak directed the inspectors to ensure that foodgrains meant for the poor reach the intended beneficiaries without fail, warning that any negligence would not be tolerated.
Principal Secretary Rahul Tewari, Director Varinder Kumar Sharma, Additional Managing Director PUNGRAIN Kamal Kumar Garg and senior departmental officers were also present.
