Punjab Government's Department of General Administration (Political-1 Branch) has issued an official notification declaring a holiday for the remainder of thursday, September 10, 2026, following the passing of former Punjab Cabinet Minister Chunni Lal Bhagat.

According to the official circular issued to all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across the state, the decision was taken as a mark of grief and respect for the late leader. The closure applies to all Punjab government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions for the rest of the working day.

The state administration has instructed all relevant authorities to ensure strict compliance with the directive. Copies of the notice have been circulated to key administrative officers, including the Chief Secretary, the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Vice-Chancellors of state universities, and heads of various government departments.
