Punjab Government has declared a local holiday in Sri Amritsar Sahib district on September 12 in view of the religious significance of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The order was issued by Punjab Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha.

According to the official notification, all government educational institutions located in Sri Amritsar Sahib district will remain closed on September 12. The holiday will also apply to government offices, government boards, and corporations functioning within the district.

State government said the decision was taken to facilitate devotees and mark the occasion with due reverence, considering the immense religious importance of the Prakash Purab. Authorities have directed all concerned departments and institutions to ensure strict compliance with the holiday order.

As a result, government schools, other government educational institutions, government offices, and offices of boards and corporations in the district will not function as usual on Saturday.

Following the announcement, a large turnout is expected at various religious events and celebrations being organized across Amritsar district to commemorate the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
