Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to 52 newly recruited employees of the department during a ceremony held at Punjab Bhawan.
Congratulating the appointees, the minister said the fresh recruitment would help address the department's manpower shortage while ensuring the timely execution of ongoing and upcoming water supply and sanitation projects across the state.

The appointments have been made under the Punjab Government's compassionate appointment policy. The newly appointed staff includes three Junior Draftsmen, nine Clerks, 31 Sewadars, one Sweeper, seven Junior Technicians and one Helper Technician.
Urging the recruits to serve with sincerity and dedication, Mundian said the Punjab Government remains committed to providing quality drinking water and sanitation services while creating employment opportunities for deserving youth. He added that the new appointments would enhance the department's efficiency and accelerate development works across Punjab.
Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has maintained a transparent recruitment process across departments and has so far provided more than 68,000 government jobs to the youth of Punjab.
Mundian also highlighted that with the latest appointments, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department has recruited 520 employees across various categories since 2022. These include 44 Sub-Divisional Engineers, 97 Junior Engineers, 81 Junior Draftsmen, 41 Clerks, 27 Stenotypists, 25 Junior Technicians, 76 Helper Technicians, 71 Sewadars, one Chowkidar and five Sweepers, all of whom are currently serving in different districts of the state.
Expressing confidence in the new recruits, the minister said they would contribute significantly to strengthening the department and improving public service delivery.
