Punjab Government has directed all departments to take strict action against employees found absent from duty without authorization, following public complaints about inconvenience caused by officials not being available in government offices during working hours.

In an official communication issued by the Department of Personnel (Personnel Policies-II Branch), the government stated that several complaints had been received from members of the public regarding officials remaining absent from their respective offices, leading to delays in public services and administrative work.

Department has instructed all Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments to compile and submit a list of such absentee employees to the Department of General Administration by the end of the working day on August 27.

Government said that further action against the identified employees would be taken in accordance with the provisions of the applicable Service Rules.

The order was issued with the approval of the competent authority and circulated to all Special Chief Secretaries, Additional Chief Secretaries, Financial Commissioners, Principal Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries of the Punjab Government.

Officials said the move is aimed at improving accountability and ensuring the smooth functioning of government offices across the state.
