Punjab Government has announced the organisation of four massive Shobha Yatras connecting major spiritual and historical centres across the country with Sri Khuralgarh Sahib as part of the statewide celebrations marking the upcoming 650th Parkash Purab of Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema made the announcement during a joint press conference at Punjab Bhawan, accompanied by Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Advisor to the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Deepak Bali.
Cheema said the grand religious processions are aimed at spreading the universal message and sacred teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj while bringing devotees together in devotion and harmony ahead of the 650th birth anniversary celebrations scheduled for February next year.
Highlighting the government’s ongoing initiatives, the Finance Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, a series of programs are being organised across Punjab to promote Guru Ji’s philosophy and teachings. These include drone shows, academic seminars in colleges and universities, essay competitions in schools, intellectual discussions on Guru Sahib’s verses, and Kirtan Darbars in various cities.
Providing details of the routes, Cheema said the first Shobha Yatra will begin from Varanasi (Kashi) on November 30 and pass through Kanpur, Delhi, Ambala, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar and Rupnagar before reaching Sri Khuralgarh Sahib on December 3.
The second procession will start from Faridkot on December 2 and travel through Ferozepur, Moga, Ludhiana, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and Garhshankar before concluding at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib on December 3.
The third Shobha Yatra will commence from Bathinda on December 1 and pass through Barnala, Mansa, Lehragaga, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Morinda and Rupnagar before arriving at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib on December 3.
The fourth procession will begin from Jammu on November 30 and travel through Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur before joining the other yatras at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib on December 3.
According to the Finance Minister, the main spiritual congregation will begin on December 4 with the Arambh of Sri Akhand Path Sahib after the arrival of all four processions.
