The Punjab government has transferred four senior IAS officers ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, assigning new responsibilities in the Jalandhar division, health department, public relations, and Rupnagar administration. The reshuffle is being seen as an effort to further strengthen the administrative setup before the polls.
In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Punjab government issued transfer orders for four senior IAS officers and assigned them to key departments and districts. The changes are being viewed as an important step toward improving administrative efficiency and accelerating governance-related work.
Who Has Been Posted Where?
According to the official orders, IAS officer Ramvir Singh has been appointed as Divisional Commissioner of Jalandhar Division. In addition, he has been given the additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Water Supply and Sanitation Department.
IAS officer Ghanshyam Thori has been posted as Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department. He will also hold the additional responsibility of Mission Director of the National Health Mission, along with additional charge as Secretary, Medical Education and Research.
The government has appointed IAS officer Puneet Goyal as Special Secretary in the Public Relations Department. He has also been given additional charge as Director of Information and Public Relations.
Meanwhile, IAS officer Akshita Gupta has been appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) in Rupnagar.
Administrative circles are linking these transfers to the government’s preparations for upcoming development projects, departmental coordination, and the smooth execution of governance initiatives ahead of the local body elections.
