Punjab Police intensified its statewide crackdown on organised crime on Friday as the 'War Against Gangster' campaign entered its 171st day, carrying out 625 raids at locations linked to gangster associates across the state.

Launched on January 20, 2026, under the direction of DGP Gaurav Yadav, the campaign aims to make Punjab a gangster-free state through coordinated operations by district police units and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).

During Friday's operation, police arrested 348 individuals and seized three weapons, taking the total number of arrests under the campaign to 46,357. Preventive action was also initiated against 307 persons, while 13 proclaimed offenders were apprehended.

Punjab Police urged citizens to anonymously report information about gangsters, wanted criminals, and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline (93946-93946).

Meanwhile, the state's anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' entered its 496th day, with police arresting 59 drug smugglers. Authorities recovered 816 grams of heroin, 386 intoxicant pills, and ₹1.29 lakh in drug money during the operation.

The total number of drug smugglers arrested under the anti-drug campaign has now reached 72,813. As part of its de-addiction initiative, Punjab Police also persuaded six individuals to undergo rehabilitation and treatment.
