Punjab Police Counter Intelligence wing has arrested a woman, identified as Gurnoor Sidhu, a resident of Faridkot, for allegedly sharing confidential information related to the Indian Army with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and the Pakistani Army.
Two military personnel, identified as Dilpreet Singh and Rajbir Singh, who are reportedly posted along the India-China border, have also been named in the case.
According to the police, a case has been registered against all three at the State Special Operations Cell police station in Fazilka under Sections 3 and 4 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
Police said they received information on October 8 during patrolling in the Ferozepur area that the accused were allegedly working together to transmit confidential information concerning military areas and cantonments to Pakistani agencies.
According to the allegations, the two military personnel collected sensitive information, while Gurnoor Sidhu allegedly helped transmit it to Pakistan using mobile phones, tablets and the internet.
The woman was arrested near an under-construction bridge along the Hussainiwala Border Road in Firozpur.
Police are questioning the accused woman in custody to investigate the alleged network and establish the details of the information shared and the involvement of the other accused.
The investigation is underway.
