Punjab Police intensified its statewide crackdown on organised crime on Thursday as the decisive ‘War Against Gangster’ campaign entered its 191st day. Police teams conducted 611 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters across Punjab.
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. District police teams, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab, have been carrying out special operations across the state on a continuous basis.
According to official information, 310 individuals were arrested during Thursday’s operation and 12 weapons were recovered. With these arrests, the total number of people apprehended under the campaign has risen to 54,514 since its launch.
Police also took preventive action against 209 persons and arrested five proclaimed offenders (POs) during the raids.
Punjab Police has appealed to citizens to assist in the campaign by sharing information related to wanted criminals, gangsters, and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline 93946-93946, where information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police also continued its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 516th day. During Thursday’s operation, 101 drug smugglers were arrested and police recovered 1.1 kg of heroin, 900 grams of opium, 1,747 intoxicant pills, and Rs 1,300 in drug money from their possession.
