Punjab Police has launched a major crackdown in connection with the Majitha police station attack case by constituting 12 special teams to track down and arrest those involved. On Monday, police personnel also reached the residence of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia as part of the ongoing investigation.
The action follows an incident on Sunday when a large number of supporters, led by Majithia, gathered at the Majitha police station. The situation outside the station reportedly turned tense and soon escalated into chaos.
According to police allegations, protesters forcibly secured the release of a person who was in police custody. The incident triggered concern within the police administration, prompting authorities to launch an extensive investigation.
Police teams have since been conducting raids at multiple locations and are actively searching for individuals linked to the case. Officials said the accused are being identified based on the FIR registered after the incident.
Authorities have stated that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for taking the law into their own hands. To speed up the investigation, 12 special teams have been assigned specific responsibilities and are carrying out coordinated operations across different areas.
Punjab Police has claimed that no one involved in the incident will be spared and expressed confidence that the accused will be arrested soon. The administration continues to closely monitor the situation as the investigation progresses.
