Punjab Police's Gharinda Police Station has seized nearly 11.96 kilograms of heroin in a major anti-drug operation, dealing a significant blow to drug smugglers operating in the state.
According to police officials, the recovery was made as part of the Punjab Government's ongoing special drive to make the state drug-free. Acting on a specific intelligence input, police conducted a targeted operation that led to the seizure of the large consignment of heroin.
Officials said the recovered heroin is estimated to be worth crores of rupees in the international market.
A case has been registered against the persons concerned, and an investigation is underway. Police are working to determine the origin of the consignment, its intended destination, and identify all individuals involved in the smuggling racket. Investigating agencies are also focusing on dismantling the entire network linked to the trafficking operation.
