Thwarting a major security threat in the state, a joint team of the Punjab Police and Counter Intelligence Ludhiana has arrested an individual accused of spying for Pakistani intelligence agencies. During this sensitive operation, security agencies recovered high-tech surveillance equipment from the accused, which was being used to monitor strategic and local activities in Ludhiana.
Swift Action Based on Confidential Intelligence
This successful operation was conducted under the leadership of Ludhiana Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma (IPS). The special operation was coordinated by Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation Harpal Singh (PPS), AIG Counter Intelligence Simratpal Dhindsa, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation Rupinder Kaur Bhatti (PPS), and Assistant Commissioner of Police Detective-1 Harshpreet Singh (PPS). Acting on precise intelligence inputs, a joint team from the CIA Staff and Counter Intelligence took the accused into custody on August 27, 2026.
The arrested accused has been identified as Raspal Singh (son of the late Karamjit Singh), a resident of Sarfkot, Fatehgarh Churian, Gurdaspur district. Initial investigations reveal that the accused had rented a shop in New Sunder Nagar, opposite Meditrina Hospital on Ferozepur Road.
Major Revelation: Live Monitoring via Technical Equipment
The most shocking revelation from the investigation is that the accused provided direct access to the CCTV cameras installed outside the shop to intelligence agencies and associates based in Pakistan. Using these cameras and high-speed internet, handlers across the border were continuously monitoring sensitive activities in Ludhiana and surrounding areas.

In-Depth Interrogation Ongoing During 6-Day Police Custody
Additionally, investigations revealed that various mobile numbers associated with this network were being used to issue threats from time to time. Police are currently investigating whether these threats are linked to a larger conspiracy network.
The accused was presented before a local court, which remanded him to 6 days of police custody. During his detention, the accused is being extensively interrogated regarding his past activities, methods of communication with his Pakistani handlers, financial transactions, and confidential information shared so far. Officials believe that further key disclosures regarding this international espionage network are likely to emerge during questioning.
