Under the proactive leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the ‘Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana’ has transformed into a mass movement across Punjab, with over 1,100 senior citizens undertaking pilgrimage journeys every day. The initiative highlights the government’s commitment to citizen welfare with dignity and inclusivity.
Well-Planned Transport Network
The success of the scheme is driven by meticulous planning and coordinated arrangements ensuring a seamless experience. To facilitate devotees aged 50 and above, a fleet of 95 deluxe air-conditioned buses has been deployed across the state. Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian stated that these buses pick up pilgrims directly from their doorsteps in villages, towns and cities.
Spiritual and Heritage Destinations
Pilgrims are taken to the sacred Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, along with other religious and historical sites. Additionally, buses from the region also travel to Sri Anandpur Sahib and nearby spiritual landmarks, including the iconic Virasat-e-Khalsa Museum, offering a rich blend of devotion and history.
Modern Tent City Facilities
A major highlight of the initiative is the well-developed ‘Tent City’ at Sri Anandpur Sahib, accommodating up to 700 pilgrims. Designed with comfort in mind, it features attached bathrooms, dedicated spaces for kirtan and meditation, and a hygienic dining hall. The entire facility is air-conditioned to ensure comfort during summer.
Free Food, Water and Accommodation
During the journey, pilgrims are provided with clean drinking water, refreshments, meals and accommodation—all completely free of cost. This ensures that financial limitations do not prevent anyone from fulfilling their spiritual aspirations.
Dedicated Volunteer Support
To enhance the overall experience, around 900 dedicated volunteers have been deployed to assist pilgrims throughout the journey. From guidance to on-ground support, they ensure every traveler is cared for with respect and attention.
Efficient Execution and Public Appreciation
The smooth execution of the scheme reflects strong administrative planning and governance. Pilgrims across Punjab have widely appreciated the initiative, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to undertake long-awaited spiritual journeys.
A Model of Compassionate Governance
