All schools in the district will remain closed on August 17 following the Independence Day celebrations held across Punjab on August 15.
The announcement was made by District Education Officer Ginni Duggal, who confirmed that a one-day holiday has been declared for all schools in the district.
The holiday comes after schools and students participated in various programs and events organised to mark the country's Independence Day. The decision is aimed at providing students and teachers a day of rest following the celebrations and official programs.
The announcement was made during the Independence Day celebrations, where Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO also highlighted several key initiatives, including the expansion of the Punjab Roadways fleet and enhanced financial assistance for families of personnel martyred while on duty.
