A tourist from Punjab was fined ₹3,500 after being caught taking a selfie while standing through the sunroof of a moving vehicle in Himachal Pradesh's Manali.

The action was taken by Manali Police after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The footage showed the tourist emerging from the sunroof of a moving vehicle to take selfies near the 15 Mile stretch on the Manali–Patlikuhal road on Friday afternoon.

After taking cognizance of the viral video, police identified the vehicle and issued an online challan at around 5:45 pm the same day for violating the Motor Vehicles Act.

According to DSP Manali K.D. Sharma, the vehicle bearing registration number PB-15-Z-0878 is owned by Rahul Soni, a resident of Chhoti Pauri Street No. 15 in Abohar, Fazilka district, Punjab.
