Punjab Vigilance Bureau has filed a massive 40,000-page supplementary chargesheet in the disproportionate assets case involving senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia. The case reportedly involves financial transactions worth more than ₹700 crore, while allegations concerning ₹736 crore in purported drug money have also come under scrutiny.
The Vigilance team brought the voluminous chargesheet to court in trunks. The documents reportedly contain details of financial transactions, bank accounts and witness statements gathered during the investigation into Majithia's assets and financial dealings.

According to the allegations levelled by the investigating agency, funds purportedly linked to drug trafficking were deposited into bank accounts of companies associated with Majithia. The agency has also alleged links between the former minister and international drug smugglers. These allegations have not been established as facts by a court and remain subject to judicial proceedings.
The latest filing follows an earlier chargesheet submitted by the Vigilance Bureau in August 2025. The investigation has examined assets and financial transactions linked to Majithia during the period from 2007 to 2017. Reports have cited estimates ranging from ₹540 crore to more than ₹700 crore in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets and financial dealings.
FIR Registered in June 2025
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau registered FIR No. 22 against Majithia on June 25, 2025, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He was arrested on the same day and subsequently sent to judicial custody.
A Mohali court rejected his regular bail application on August 18, 2025. The Vigilance Bureau filed a chargesheet running into approximately 40,000 pages before the Mohali court on August 22, 2025.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected Majithia's regular bail plea on December 4, 2025, following which he approached the Supreme Court.
On February 2, 2026, the Supreme Court granted him regular bail after he had spent approximately seven months in custody. The grant of bail did not amount to an acquittal, and the case remains subject to the judicial process.

Kejriwal Targets Amit Shah Over Majithia
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal launched a sharp political attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah over Majithia, alleging proximity between the two leaders and making remarks about the drug menace in Punjab.
In a post on X, Kejriwal wrote, “Majithia and Amit Shah ji are extremely close, just like brothers.”
Taking a sarcastic swipe at Shah, the AAP leader added, “By allying with Majithia now, Amit Shah ji will eradicate drugs from Punjab. This will be the eighth wonder of the world.”
In another pointed remark, Kejriwal alleged that Amit Shah now wanted to sell drugs brought from Gujarat in Punjab along with Majithia. The remark was a political allegation by Kejriwal and was not an established finding of the Vigilance investigation.
The comments have brought the ongoing case into the political spotlight, with the allegations against Majithia and Kejriwal's remarks adding to the debate over drug trafficking and accountability in Punjab.
The supplementary chargesheet is a significant development in the Vigilance Bureau's investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets case. The evidence and allegations submitted by the agency will be examined through the legal process, and Majithia's guilt, if any, will be determined by the court.
