Punjab will organise special camps at all polling stations today (October 24) from 3 pm to 5 pm, allowing voters to check their names in the electoral roll, apply for new voter registration and seek corrections in their existing details.
Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra said the camps are being organised on the directions of the Election Commission of India. Voters can verify their names and personal details in the final electoral roll published on October 12 under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026.
Young Voters Can Apply for Registration
Mitra said January 1, 2027, has been fixed as the qualifying date for voter registration under the upcoming Special Summary Revision (SSR). Young people who turn 18 on or before this date can apply to get their names included in the electoral roll by filling out Form 6.
The special camps will also provide an opportunity for voters to check their existing registration details and submit applications for necessary corrections.
Punjab Electoral Roll Revision Schedule
As per the SSR schedule, the draft electoral roll for Punjab will be published on November 12, 2026. Voters will be able to submit claims and objections regarding the draft list from November 12 to December 11.
The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on January 4, 2027.
CEO Appeals to Voters to Attend Camps
Anindita Mitra urged voters to visit their respective polling stations during the two-hour camp and take advantage of the facilities available. She particularly appealed to young people who will become eligible to vote by January 1, 2027, to apply for registration and ensure their names are included in the electoral roll.
Voters are advised to check their names and details carefully to avoid any discrepancies in the electoral roll ahead of the upcoming revision process.
