A dispute following a minor road accident in Himachal Pradesh escalated into a physical altercation after a group of tourists from Punjab allegedly assaulted an Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) driver and conductor. A video of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing heated arguments, abusive language, and the conductor allegedly being slapped.
According to police, the incident occurred around 4 pm on Wednesday near the Parwanoo toll plaza in Solan district. An HRTC bus (HP-06B-4571) belonging to the Rampur depot was travelling from Rampur to Ambala when driver Girja Ram slowed down the vehicle due to a speed breaker on the road.
Police said a Punjab-registered car (PB-10-DF-0774) coming from behind collided with the bus. Following the collision, an argument broke out between the occupants of the car and the HRTC staff, which soon turned into a physical confrontation.
The tourists allegedly pushed and assaulted driver Girja Ram and conductor Amanjit Singh. The viral video also shows police personnel arriving at the spot and attempting to intervene as the argument continued.
After the incident, the driver and conductor lodged a complaint with the police. Based on their statement, a case was registered on the evening of June 3 against Gajendra and Chamkor Singh, both residents of Amritsar, Punjab.
Police have launched an investigation and are examining video footage and other evidence related to the incident. The tourists were reportedly returning to Punjab after visiting Shimla.
