A Punjabi truck driver was critically injured in a suspected racial attack in the United States on Monday morning after an unidentified assailant allegedly made racist remarks and then stabbed him.
According to members of the Punjabi community, the victim has been identified as Gurvinder Singh. Community member Pavitar Singh said the driver was found in a severely injured condition and was rushed to a hospital, where he remains critical and is currently unable to speak. The matter has been reported to local police authorities.
Pavitar Singh said it is not yet known which part of Punjab Gurvinder Singh belongs to. He was reportedly employed with WJ Transport. The injured driver was found covered in blood about 100 metres away from his truck, which was parked in a roadside rest area where he had stopped to take a break.
A video of the incident site has surfaced on social media and was uploaded by an Instagram user identified as Pavitar Singh. The footage reportedly shows truck number 11240 parked in the rest area, with bloodstains visible around the location. Blood traces were reportedly found stretching nearly 100 metres from the truck.
Community members have alleged that the attacker was a white male who first made racist comments before carrying out the stabbing. However, the suspect's identity has not been established, and police have not announced any arrests in connection with the incident so far. Investigations are underway.
