Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Punjab in the first week of September as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections.

Congress Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and discussed the proposed visit. The exact date, however, has not been finalised yet. Baghel said the visit has been pushed back by about a week from the earlier plan to hold it in the last days of August.

According to Congress sources, Rahul Gandhi may begin his Punjab tour by paying obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. The visit is expected to be followed by a Congress-led bus yatra aimed at mobilising party workers and strengthening preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
