Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will visit Sangrur district on November 4, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Pargat Singh has announced. The visit comes as the Punjab Congress prepares to intensify its political and organisational activities ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, with Mission 2027 emerging as a key focus for the party.
According to Pargat Singh, Gandhi’s visit is expected to give fresh impetus to the Congress’s preparations in Punjab and underline the importance of coordinated efforts by party leaders and workers. Sangrur, located in the Malwa region, will be the focal point of the programme as the party seeks to strengthen its public outreach and organisational network ahead of the elections.
Pargat Singh said Malwa occupies a significant position in Punjab’s political landscape, with constituencies across the region playing an important role in Assembly election outcomes. He indicated that taking the party’s campaign forward from Sangrur would form an important part of the Punjab Congress’s broader strategy for the coming election cycle.
The PPCC president said the party would focus on strengthening its grassroots presence and engaging more closely with people across Punjab. He added that raising issues affecting the public and maintaining regular contact with residents would remain central to the Congress’s political activities in the run-up to the elections.
Organisational strengthening and worker mobilisation are also expected to remain key priorities. Pargat Singh said party leaders and workers would need to work together and intensify their efforts as preparations for Mission 2027 gather pace. He emphasised the importance of coordination across the organisation to ensure that public concerns remain at the centre of the party’s engagement.
The announcement places Sangrur in focus as the Punjab Congress moves ahead with its preparations for the next Assembly elections. The party intends to expand its political activities, strengthen coordination among workers and continue raising issues concerning people across the state.
Rahul Gandhi’s proposed visit on November 4 is expected to provide an occasion for party members to discuss the road ahead and reinforce their organisational efforts. With the 2027 elections approaching, the Punjab Congress is seeking to build momentum through public outreach, local-level engagement and a more coordinated approach under its Mission 2027 preparations.
