Rainfall across Punjab on Monday brought a drop in temperatures in several parts of the state, with many districts recording a decline in maximum temperatures.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, light rain or drizzle is likely at isolated places in six districts on Tuesday, September 29. These include Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshahr), Rupnagar and SAS Nagar (Mohali).
The weather office said some places in these districts could receive light showers or drizzle. However, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda, Ferozepur and other parts of Punjab are likely to experience clear and dry weather.
The weather is expected to improve further from Wednesday. No rainfall is forecast in any district of Punjab from September 30 to October 2, according to the forecast.
As per IMD Chandigarh data released on September 28, Punjab's average maximum temperature fell by 2.1 degrees Celsius compared with the previous day. The state's average maximum temperature was 5.2 degrees Celsius below normal.
The highest maximum temperature recorded in Punjab on Monday was 31.2 degrees Celsius, measured at the Agricultural Meteorology Centre in Bathinda.
