Ludhiana MP and Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring’s troubles have intensified after the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) ordered his arrest in connection with alleged derogatory and casteist remarks about former Union Home Minister late Buta Singh during an election meeting.
The matter was heard by the NCSC on Monday under the leadership of its chairman Kishor Makwana. Buta Singh’s son Sarbjot Singh, Tarn Taran DSP Harpreet Singh and DSP Gulzar Singh were also present during the hearing.
The Commission directed the police to arrest Raja Warring and all other accused within five days and submit a status report on the action taken.
The controversy dates back to November 2025, when Warring allegedly made controversial remarks about late Buta Singh at a public meeting. The remarks subsequently led to a complaint and proceedings before the NCSC.
However, Warring may challenge the Commission’s order in court. He is likely to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the arrest direction and could also move the Supreme Court if required.
The latest development has added to the political and legal challenges facing the Punjab Congress chief.
