Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, February 13 –

Through the efforts of Haryana's cabinet minister Anil Vij, the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) routes connecting Ambala-Srinagar-Ambala has been awarded to Flybig Airlines from the civil airport (civil enclave) being developed in Ambala. Additionally, an amount of Rs. 25 crore has been sanctioned for the development of the Ambala airport under the UDAN 4.2 scheme.

Providing details, Vij said he had recently written to the Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on 11.11.2024 and 01.01.2025 regarding the operation of the civil enclave at Ambala airport and the initiation of flight services from Ambala airport under the RCS-UDAN scheme. In response to these letters, the Union Minister gave a written reply to Anil Vij.

Vij stated that according to the letter, BCAS security clearances and documentation are currently being processed by the Civil Aviation Department of Haryana. He said once the airport is ready, the RCS flights will be operated through Flybig Airlines.

Additionally, under UDAN 5.4, bids have been invited for pre-determined routes, including Ambala-Lucknow-Ambala. Jettwings Airlines has submitted a proposal for this route, which is currently under evaluation.
