Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved the procurement of 25,000 tons of gypsum at an estimated cost of ₹15.63 crore to improve nearly 10 lakh acres of land across the state. The move aims to ensure adequate availability of gypsum for farmers and improve the fertility of agricultural land.
Saini chaired a meeting of the High-Powered Purchase Committee in Chandigarh, where several major development and infrastructure projects across Haryana were also approved.
Chief Minister said gypsum is being supplied to farmers through the Haryana Land Reclamation and Development Corporation at a 50 per cent subsidy for land reclamation. He stressed that high-quality gypsum should be made available to farmers to help restore degraded land quickly and make it more fertile.
The committee also approved the construction of a 21,680-metric-tonne-capacity warehouse and a quality control laboratory at the HAFED Complex in Kaithal at a cost of ₹9.80 crore.
Drinking Water, Sewerage and Infrastructure Projects
Saini approved drinking water schemes worth ₹75.50 crore under the Mahagram Yojana for villages in Panipat district. The projects will cover Bhainswal, Kutani, Rajakheri, Nimbri, Ugrakheri, Risalu, Nangal Kheri, Kabri, Garhi and Sikanderpur.
Sewerage lines in the Shani Mandir and MPS Gudha areas of Gohana city were also approved at a cost of ₹16.30 crore.
Chief Minister further approved the construction of a judicial complex in Sector 27, Pinjore-Kalka, at a cost of ₹22.70 crore and Phase III of the Administrative Block of the Mini Secretariat in Ambala City at ₹34 crore.
Nursing College and District Jail Projects
government approved construction of the Phase I Bank Square Building in Ambala Cantonment at a cost of ₹52 crore. A Government Nursing College will also be constructed in Safidon at an estimated cost of ₹37.49 crore.
Saini also approved ₹16.80 crore for upgrading roads in Industrial Area Phase I, Panchkula. A district jail will be constructed at Jaloli village in Panchkula at an estimated cost of ₹40 crore, while another district jail will be built in Fatehabad at a cost of ₹37 crore.
Repair and maintenance work on around 83 kilometres of the Kundli-Manesar road section was approved at a cost of ₹65.66 crore.
Health and Highway Projects
Narnaul hospital will be upgraded from 100 beds to 200 beds at a cost of ₹26.30 crore. A 50-bed Ayush Hospital will also be constructed in Yamunanagar at an estimated cost of ₹16.89 crore.
Saini approved work on the Kurukshetra-Saharanpur State Highway at a cost of ₹26.90 crore. A Detailed Project Report is being prepared to convert the road into a four-lane highway, following which the route will be widened.
The Chief Minister said projects completed ahead of their stipulated deadlines would be incentivised as per the government’s policy.
