The district administration and police department have stepped up security measures in Amritsar ahead of the anniversary of Operation Blue Star.
With a large number of devotees and radical elements expected to arrive in the city for events scheduled on June 6, authorities have made extensive arrangements to ensure foolproof security.
The police administration has declared a high alert across the city and increased the deployment of security personnel at key locations. Continuous monitoring is being carried out in sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incident and maintain law and order.
As part of the security preparations, Amritsar Police conducted a flag march in various parts of the city before the anniversary. Senior police officials and personnel marched through major markets, bus stands, railway stations, religious places, and other sensitive locations to assess the security situation.
Officials said the flag march was aimed at instilling confidence among residents and sending a strong message to anti-social elements that any attempt to disturb peace and public order would be dealt with strictly.
