Shikha Nehra, Joint Director Punjab PR department retires after 35 years of service

Joint Director of the Punjab Information and Public Relations Department, Shikha Nehra, superannuated on Thursday after completing 35 years of service in the department.

A farewell function was organised by the department to accord her a warm send-off, where senior officers and colleagues lauded her contribution to public relations and government communication over more than three decades.

State Media Head Baltej Singh Pannu recalled his long association with the retiring officer and said that Shikha Nehra always discharged her duties with dedication, professionalism, and fearlessness, making her a valuable asset to the department.

Amanjot Singh, OSD (Media) to the Chief Minister, described her as a role model for young PR professionals, saying she consistently mentored and guided officers at every stage of their careers.

Special Secretary-cum-Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Puneet Goyal, extended his best wishes for her post-retirement life and said that her services would always be remembered for both her professional competence and humane approach.

Addressing the gathering, Shikha Nehra became emotional as she reflected on her journey in the department. She recalled joining the department as an Assistant Public Relations Officer (APRO) in 1991 and spoke about the significant transformation in the department’s functioning, particularly in the field of technology and communication systems. She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the department and colleagues for the affectionate farewell.

During the function, the dignitaries felicitated Shikha Nehra in recognition of her long and dedicated service to the Punjab government.

The event was attended by Deputy Secretary Deepankar Garg; Additional Director Randeep Singh Ahluwalia; Joint Directors Preet Kanwal Singh, Ishwinder Singh Grewal, and Manvinder Singh; Deputy Directors Rashim Verma, Ruchi Kalra, Navdeep Singh Gill, Prabhdeep Singh, Hakam Thapar, Sherjung Singh Hundal, and Narinder Pal Singh Jagdeo, along with family members of the retiring officer, PROs, APROs, DPROs, and other staff members of the department.
